Saint Agnes Food Pantry

Please join us Saturday morning, October 27, for our monthly Food Pantry.   The Dare To Care food truck will arrive at 9:00 a.m. and the driver will offload our food inventory with a pallet jack.   We will unwrap, arrange and set out the food items.   We’ll begin serving guests at 10:00 a.m. and the pantry will remain open until 11:30 a.m.

Simulating a grocery store experience, guests will select their food and use grocery carts to transport the selected items to their cars.  In operating the Pantry, volunteers will assemble food on the tables; collect and break down packaging materials for the recycle dumpster; welcome guests and provide assistance transporting food to their cars; retrieve grocery carts from the parking lot; assist with clean-up; and return tables and carts to their proper locations, etc.

On September 22 we hosted 120 guests, benefitting a total of 375 people, including 8 military veterans.   This month’s Pantry was staffed by approximately 40 parishioners of all ages, including a spirited group of fifth graders who organized their own classroom drive.   In addition to juice, tea and lemonade, the fifth grade donated children’s books which were offered to Pantry guests along with the food items.   The students supported the operation of the Pantry by managing the book table, bagging produce for our guests, organizing the inventory, assisting guests with their selections, retrieving grocery carts from the parking lot, etc.   As always, a handful of our Pantry guests volunteered as well.   This month’s Dare to Care delivery included the following the following fresh produce:  apples, carrots, corn, kale, onions, peppers, potatoes, squash and watermelon.    Our surplus items were delivered to St. Vincent DePaul for its food pantry operation.

We are glad to have your support regardless of the amount of time you are able to work.   Hope to see you Saturday morning!
