Saint Agnes Preschool Program
Saint Agnes School offers a Preschool Program which is available for children who are four or five years old but not quite ready to begin Kindergarten. Children are minimally four before August 1st of the year for which they are enrolling. Our Admissions Coordinator is available by appointment for private tours of our Preschool classroom where families can meet our Preschool staff.
The Saint Agnes Preschool Program follows the Archdiocese of Louisville curriculum for preschool children. The Preschool day consists of students and teachers gathering for circle time to talk and listen to one another, and to participate in opening learning activities, songs and patterns. Students share thoughts and ideas and hear about “center time”. Our approach to learning allows for imaginative and creative play during learning centers where students can discover new things and participate in familiar routines in a warm and caring environment. Special-area classes are also available including Creative Arts, Spanish Language and Culture, Movement/P.E. and Music. Active outdoor play, Minds-in-Motion and compassionate kindness are essential components of the Saint Agnes Preschool curriculum.
Each Preschool class is led by co-teachers . As part of the full and half-day, students enjoy a healthy snack provided by the school. Full-day students may purchase lunch from our school lunch menu options including multiple hot entrees, sandwiches, and a full salad bar, or they may bring a lunch from home. Students have rest time in the afternoon and conclude their school day by 3 p.m. Families may pick up their child at 3 p.m. or, for an additional cost, may enroll him/her in our After School Care program until 5:45 p.m. More information on this can be found here.
Two options for enrollment include 5/days a week, with half-day (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) and full-day (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) opportunities. All students may begin their day as early as 7:15 a.m. for no additional fee. We require that students enrolling in the half-day Preschool program are picked up by 12:00 p.m. prior to the start of lunch for full-day students. The application for the 2021/2022 school year will go live in mid-September.
Construction of a new preschool building is in progress and is slated to end during the 2020/2021 school year (renderings below, subject to change). The new building will ultimately house two 4/5 year old classrooms and two 3 year old classrooms.
